smart way to record

When you think about what camera equipment and accessories you need to shoot high-quality video or an audio, the basics that come to mind are microphones, lenses, tripods, lighting etc.  Just add a smartphone to that mix, and you’re ready to roll! With shooting video or audio on your phone, the basics are exactly the same. Today’s Smart Phones are really, really smart.

We often forget all the things that Smartphones are capable of. We think a phone is just to make or receive calls, send texts, click some snaps…But in reality with the phone’s camera and microphone you can capture a video or an audio using your phone with the same quality which you will get if you use external cameras with lenses, microphones etc.

For getting a better quality of a video or audio clip while capturing it from your smart phone follow these tips:

1)      Before starting anything turn on the flight mode of your phone. You don’t want any calls or texts while capturing a video or audio as it will compel you to start  all over again

2)      Make sure your phone’s battery is charged. You don’t want your phone to get switched off in between.

3)      Try to avoid shooting in noisy places like coffee shops or a restaurant but if you have a phone like the Nokia Lumia 928, which has a digital microphone that captures sound without distortion, you can capture a good recording even in loud environments.

4)      Know your sound settings. Get to know your sound recording software. The settings on some devices default to maximum recording length vs. good sound quality. A few minutes of learning your settings will really help while recording.

5)      Keep your hands steady. The steadier your hands are, the better will be the quality of your video, unless you are using a tripod for your phone.

6)      Do not use zoom in or zoom out function as it reduces the quality of the video. Instead be ready to take some step forwards or backwards when you have to zoom in or zoom out.

Taking care of such small things while shooting a video or recording an audio you can make sure that the quality of your video or audio is on par with those who shoot with expensive equipment.
